My Master Interview. Expecting the worst?
Okay, this post has been delayed for 7 months - I was
scrolling through my dekstop and came across my ‘BLOG POST’ document where it’s
been a long time I have put it in dungeon and today I decided to finally share
my experiences.
ALERT: Since I already wrote this during my final
week in my last semester, so my POV might be telling what I’m actually feel on
that time.
Let’s start directly as I already shared how I
gathered my courage in furthering my master on my previous post. Now,
Alhamdulillah I’m already in my final semester and I will be doing my Viva in 2
weeks time. Guess, eyebags and I are friend now. Hahaha 😂
I won’t share step by step to apply for master as
there are many blogs shared about that already. My aim is to share with you
what I’ve already experienced during my master and maybe would clearing your
thoughts what master is all about.
P/s: Noted that this is based on Master in Office
Systems at UiTM Shah Alam.
I’m doing my Master – full time by coursework, so
embrace yourself that this is only on this side of story. If you continue by
research or part time mode, this might be different.
When you apply for master, you will likely to be
called for interview if you passed their requirement. Note that you need to get
CGPA 3.0 above to further. Thus, when you attend the IV, you will need to bring
all your original certificate and offer letter for them to conduct screening.
Before the IV session, all candidate (PHD and Master) will be gathered in one
of the seminar room or maybe hall, for writing test. I still remember vividly, the
question is about the current issues during that time and I came literally
unprepared. Thank god I do have a little knowledge about what is going on with
the issue so I just ramble my things up. And spices it a bit.
“Should UiTM
remain a Bumiputera Institution? Discuss.”
(Not more than
200 words)
During the test, I think time given is around 45
minutes and after that you need to go to the assigned room for the IV session.
And believe me, I am the 4th last who come out from the hall.
Hahaha. At that time, I think my stupidity level are insane. Hahaha. But that’s
not all. The total chaos start when I am doing my interview. During interview,
each room were assigned with four candidates at a times, and I am so lucky I got
the same room with my friend, Shahira at that time. But the storm comes when I am
in the room. I realized that my form that I send thru Poslaju does not arrived
at faculty. And I am alone without any form for their (the panel) reference. The
anxiety that I am going thru at that time is totally insane. I remember at that
time Kak Rozita and Kak Yati running to the office to print my information. It
was totally chaotic outside the room. And I enter 30 minutes later due to my
form problem. When I enter the room, the panel look at me with the face saying “Are
you okay? Is it done? Can we start now?” hahaha. I swear, that was my most
memorable moment of my master. Clumsy and Cika, perfect combo!
Oh ya,, the session already start without me, so when
I sit on my chair ready to be interviewed, I just intro myself and doing my
part. At that time, their question toward me was “What is validation?” and since
the candidate before me were explaining about her product which is herb
medicine that she produce by herself, I thought that they asking me what did I know
about the validation of the product. Little did I know that, the panel actually
asking me in terms of doing research. What is validation in doing research
paper. Hahahahaha 😆
My reaction when I realized that I am not answering
their question correctly is that I just laugh. Literally laughing and
apologize. Once the interview done, it takes around 2 weeks to know the result
of the interview and alhamdulillah, I am accepted eventho my interview day’s
went miserably.
Ps: I hope this post does help you a little bit on
how the interview day look like.
Next post : I will elaborate on subject that I’m
taking on semester first.
Till then,
Cika
